Or to give a full title, “Humble Homes, Simple Shacks, Cozy Cottages, Ramshackle Retreats, Funky Forts”
“…is a culmination of my love for ultra-tiny living, and covers some of the small houses and cabins I’ve unprofessionally built. “Lark”itecture is my self-coined/invented term (never seen it used anywhere else) , as I have no professional training, and have instead built my “abilities” off of years of simple and unschooled fort building, chicken coop construction, and small cabin erection.” says author Derek ‘Deek’ Diedricksen.
This is most certainly an ‘ideas’ book, and the author warns you there are no precise plans, no templates and no guides to finding the perfect escutcheon.
What there is plenty of; is caffeine fuelled scribbles, ideas and inspiration. For many of us, I suspect, this is what’s really needed – a simple and DIY way of getting started. This guy is busy spreading the small home, shack dwelling lifestyle.
Why not make a house out of doors? Why not live in a shipping container buried underground? Why not live in an enormous seed pod that dangles from a tree with a wind turbine on the bottom? (Even the author admits the last one is a bit ‘full on’)
Here is the first of a series of web videos he’s done. Good presenter too:
Here is a link to this book on Google books, where much of the book is available to preview: (of course buy it if you can afford it or ask your library to consider stocking it)
